'Miliband of Brothers' - the satire now before the serious tomorrow

It has been a long summer for the five candidates hoping to become the next leader of the ousted Labour Party, but tomorrow afternoon as their annual party conference opens in Manchester the result of the ballot will be known.

It is expected that the next leader of the opposition will be a Miliband – but the question of which one still remains. The favourite throughout has been the more experienced David, but as the long five-month contest closed it was younger brother Ed who became the favourite in the eyes of the many bookmakers.

Appropriately on the eve of the announcement, an hour-long docudrama is being broadcast tonight at 9pm on More4 cleverly entitled ‘Miliband of Brothers’.

But worry not, it won’t be too serious viewing for a Friday night - it is on More4 after all… It is billed as being more ‘satirical’ which is hardly a surprise since film’s writer David Quantick began his comedy career on the infamous Spitting Image.

The docudrama depicts David and Ed’s rise from their obscure Left-wing North London origins to their battle for the Labour leadership and will no doubt feature some typical family squabbles.

Ahead of the ballot result tomorrow afternoon, this is essential viewing – even if neither of the brothers themselves will watch.
