Is the BNP attempting to hide its ugly past behind a pretty new party logo?

On the first official day of the party’s annual conference in the East Midlands earlier this week, the British National Party leader Nick Griffin unveiled the party’s new official logo - a Union flag emblazoned heart with the party’s name. “This logo will illustrate exactly what this party is about,” he proclaimed.

The new logo forms part of a broader rebranding for the controversial far-right party as it will also drop the use of the BNP acronym in its official literature. Unsurprisingly, all the delegates interviewed about the new logo by various media outlets were unanimous in their support for it.

However, besides bearing a remarkable similarity to the current brush-effect Conservative Party logo, the phrase "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind...
